Hello Mission Lodge fans! We hope everyone has had a wonderful Winter and Spring, all things considered.
Just a couple of quick notes:
– 800 Number: It is currently inactive thanks to our friends at AT&T. Do we really need one in this day and age of the smartphone? Email us and let us know your thoughts. It has always been such a hassle to move it back and forth, that we are toying with the idea of dumping it altogether.
ALASKA NUMBER: 1-907-842-2250
8AM – 6PM AST [Noon – 10PM EST].
– Second Floor Re-Model: it is now complete and waiting for your inspection! We could post some photos, but isn’t a surprise more fun?!
– Fishing Report: Over the last week we have been out setting up our boats & motors all around the region. The water levels look great and we just happened to take along a rod or two. Someone’s got to do it, right? The large schools of tightly packed baby salmon, ‘smolt balls’, are rolling down the systems and the trout and char fishing has been really good. We even got our new chef [see below] into some Rainbow trout on mice. An early spring and recent good weather has also helped our residence species get going. Some early Sockeye salmon have snuck in the lake system here at the lodge, nothing to get excited about yet. They should start to pour in next week. King Salmon started showing up in the Nushagak and there were over 12,000 through the sonars as of Sunday. The first big push should start up in a few days.
– New Chef(s): We are excited to introduce you to our new Head Chef Patrick and Assistant Chef Bear [Barry] upon arrival. After 15 great years with Chef Dave, he decided it was time to spend some summers in the lower forty-eight. We will miss him of course, but his departing gift to us was introducing us to our new team who, like Chef Dave, have been working the Four Seasons in Jackson Hole, WY.
