Our goal is to utilize the various fisheries while they are in their prime. To do this we will fly you and your group out to different rivers and streams depending on the species that you are interested in.
Each evening prior, we confer with you to see what kind of experience you are up for. The guides will then get the necessary gear put together in our tackle room (which doubles as a great story telling hang out). The next morning after breakfast you board one of our float planes and head out with a guide (or to a spike camp with a guide waiting) to one of the many world class, and in some cases world famous, rivers and streams of our region. Depending on the location we will have jet boats to take up and down the river to fish from or get you to different gravel bars for wading.
Because of a short growing season, all native species must be released, no exceptions. With the advent of graphite mounting techniques, there is even no reason to keep trophy fish. If you are interested in taking back some salmon, your guide will fillet or steak them, vacuum pack them in suitable portions and freeze them. Upon your departure your catch will be put into an airline-approved waxed fish box for the trip home.
We understand you come up here to fish, so on those nasty weather days that we will not or can not fly (because of our location they average less than four days a season), we have some trout and salmon fisheries close to the lodge that can be reached by boat.
Whether you have been to Alaska twenty times or this is your first time, Mission Lodge will be an unforgettable experience of great fishing, unsurpassed comfort and most importantly – FUN!
