‘THE SPA’ at Mission Lodge

Massage Therapy

This marks the seventh summer that Nene is offering therapeutic massage at Mission Lodge. She has been a licensed massage practitioner since 1995. Recently, she has made her home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and Bend, Oregon with her husband, Rob, and their dog, Johnny.

Nene’s intention is to facilitate and support individuals in realizing that they are the source of their own healing and well-being. Therefore, no two massages are the same. Her massages provide you a unique opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and reset your body.

If fishing isn’t part of your normal weekly activities, your body will likely tire a lot more quickly than you would expect. Even if you are really fit, you are asking a group of specific muscles to “run a marathon” every day for six days in a row while you are here! The repetitive motion of casting and reelin’ ‘em in subjects your muscles to extreme fatigue. In this fatigued time, the body weakens and becomes more prone to injury. The body recruits other muscles to compensate for overtired “fishing” muscles that no longer are able to operate in their normal range of motion. Imagine late afternoon on Thursday (day six) and you spot the “big one” you’ve been waiting for all week…the LAST thing you want is for the rainbow to out-perform you!!!

Catching imbalances before they become a problem is the most effective way to prevent fatigue and possible injury. Even something as simple as a tight hand, for example, can turn into a shoulder and neck problem. Massage relieves muscle tension and soreness and keeps your muscles and joints pliable, agile and ready for action. It calms and relaxes your entire nervous system in a way that only human touch can achieve. To maintain your physical and mental stamina for the entire week, give yourself the advantage of a massage.
To book massages, sign-up in the massage sign-up book located behind the bar or see Sarah or Nene.

Wood-fired Sauna

It would not be a complete trip to Alaska without an authentic wood-fired sauna. Both the native peoples and the early Russian explorers enjoyed this relaxing tradition. Just a couple of steps from the lodge sits our spacious sauna, complete with rocks to splash water on for the steam room effect. After warming up enjoy an optional massage from our licensed Massage Therapist.
